Sharlot Hall's Adventure on the Arizona Strip
It was a little-known region stretching north from the Grand Canyon and Colorado River to the Utah border. Government officials there were interested in annexing it. An independent and head-strong woman toured this land in 1911 with a keen interest and willing heart. Her writings lent support to keeping it a part of Arizona.
About the Presenter
As Education Program Manager for the Museum, Ms. Pederson conducts the volunteer training program, which includes an overview on the life and times of Sharlot Mabridth Hall, museum’s namesake. This lecture is an expanded look at Sharlot’s 75-day tour of the Arizona Strip, begun in July 1911 and completed in October of the same year. Pederson has been with the Museum since 2017, and holds a master’s degree in public history from Loyola University, Chicago. Her continuing efforts have greatly expanded the Museum’s
educational programs.
