Event Details

Join us this month while we delve into the setting of your stories. Setting grounds your writing in the reality of place and depicts the theme of your story through powerful metaphor. Without setting, characters are simply there, in a vacuum, with no reason to act and most importantly, no reason to care. Without a place there is no story. It can help set the mood, influence the way characters behave, affect the dialog, foreshadow events, invoke an emotional response, reflect the society in which the characters live, and sometimes even plays a part in the story.  We will perform written exercises in order to develop setting. Join us on Wednesdays, January 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2024, from 12-2 pm. We will develop and learn how to incorporate setting in your story to add depth to support your characters and plot.
