Description

Hag. Crone. Old bag. Invisible. Irrelevant. These are some of the many derogatory words used to describe older women. It’s nearly impossible not to internalize some of this language. The youth-beauty industry cashes in on this by targeting as disgusting every wrinkle, pound, and piece of evidence that women have lived a life. But menopause is not the end of a woman’s life; it is the door to the next adventure, and how we greet this stage matters. Menopause burns away old identities and outdated structures, and it offers a bone-deep opportunity to consciously move into the next phase of life in which we can explore our callings, heal a lifetime of wounds, and share our talents. If we are fortunate enough to inhabit a body into later life, let’s do it with intention, intuition, and all the fire and wisdom we have earned.
