When Caroline Shaw won the Pulitzer Prize for music in 2014 for her piece Partita for 8 Voices, she became the youngest winner of the prestigious award. The piece embodies multiple facets of Shaw’s life, ranging from Bach to Folk Music of her North Carolina roots. These connections caught the attention of and resulted in collaborations with Beyonce and Kanye West to name just a few. Come discover how this young composer brings music from the 16th and 17th Centuries into the modern era.

Bio: Joshua Harper (Associate Professor of Choral Music at Yavapai College) is a conductor, composer, and soloist who has conducted throughout the United States and Canada. He was selected twice as a fellow for Yale's Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and was one of five conductors from North America selected for the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir's Emerging Conductor's Symposium. This Summer, he will travel to New Zealand to perform at the 12th World Symposium on Choral Music in Auckland.
