Prescott Valley Public Library & Mayer Public Library presents, The Internment Experience on Monday, September 25th, 2023, from 12:00-2:00 pm. In February 1942, two months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 that resulted in the internment of Japanese Americans. Between 1942 and 1945 a total of 10 camps were opened, holding approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans for varying periods of time in California, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Arkansas. Join us for this presentation from Lillian Mayeda who will speak about her personal experience at the Gila River War Relocation Center in southern Arizona during World War II.
