Purpose of Meeting
Welcome to ADOT's Statewide Listening Tour. We are coming to you to listen, learn, build strong relationships with communities, and work toward a shared vision for the future of transportation in our state.
A statewide vision is important because not all transportation needs are being met in our state. We all recognize that funding is limited and always will be. This reality leads to most of the state barely funding essential maintenance projects and rarely funding projects that build a wholistic transportation system.
What will begin to move Arizona from piecemeal projects to a wholistic, interconnected transportation system? A shared vision encompassing multiple perspectives from all corners of Arizona. If we agree on a clear vision up front, and each piece is built in phases based on available funding, we can demonstrate how each phase moves the state closer to the bigger picture of a statewide, interconnected transportation system.
- This is a Listening Tour not a “telling” tour.
- A critical cornerstone of the effort is encouraging regions to shape their own events.
- Another critical cornerstone is inviting voices to the table that can spark new conversation.
- The Listening Tour has two components:
- Stakeholders (government/community organizations) Fall 2025 through Spring 2026
- Public Spring/Summer 2026. Discussions with stakeholders are intended to inform the public component of the Listening Tour.
- What connects you to the transportation system?
- How does transportation fit into the Arizona you love?
- After reviewing the list of improvements planned over the next five years for your region, what do you see missing?
- What are unmet transportation needs in your region?
- What do you hope never changes?
- What do you hope changes?
- What is your relationship to the state’s transportation system?
- Tell us what you think the state transportation consists of.
