Program Description
Event Details
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. In North America we will experience an incredible natural event that has been dubbed the Great North American Eclipse. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Weather permitting, people along the path of totality will see the Sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere, which is usually obscured by the bright face of the Sun. After the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, the next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will be on Aug. 23, 2044
Come on in and check out a Solar Science Kit. Each kit has information and activities from SEAL (Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries) program. Solar Science Backpacks are also available for check out. Each backpack has solar eclipse related activities and resources but does not have a sun spotter. Check back and see what new eclipse related programs will be available in the future.
Available starting January 16th, 2024.
Cards for check out are located in the library of things display.
