Verde NRCD Local Work Group Meeting

Members of the community interested in conservation on private lands are invited to attend the 2023 Verde Natural Resource Conservation District Local Work Group Meeting.

We need your opinion! Local Work Group Meetings help determine the long-term goals of the Verde NRCD and provide funding recommendations for projects in the Verde Valley to the Natural Resource Conservation Service.

Tell us what's important to you!  Is it irrigation efficiency? Preserving rural, agricultural or open space? Keeping the river flowing? Concerned about invasive plants? Something else? Here's your chance to tell us how to direct our resources.

9:30 Introduction, announcements and welcome: Chip Norton, Chairman, Board of Supervisors Verde NRCD.

9:40 Matt Halverson, Director, Yavapai County Co-operative Extension, University of Arizona-programs for the Verde Valley.

10:00 John Ford, The Nature Conservancy- irrigation efficiencies in the Verde Valley.

10:30 Sierra Frydenlund, Soil Conservationist, NRCS, Flagstaff-role of NRCS, history of the NRCD in the Verde Valley,

10:50 Carter Benton, Salt River Project- updates on water adjudication in the Verde Valley,

11:15 Break-visit the Education Center interactive display

11:30: Identify resource concerns.

The Verde Natural Resource Conservation District (NRCD) and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) work in partnership with private landowners and a variety of local, state, federal conservation partners to deliver conservation outcomes based on specific local needs.
