Program Description

Event Details

Prescott Valley Public Library will be offering six workshops on financial literacy and basic money management skills geared towards kids ages 9-12 in collaboration with Desert Financial Credit Union.

*Please note that these are stand-alone workshops and they do not build on each other so registrants can attend any sessions of interest.

Through hands-on activities, educational videos, and real-world examples, participants will explore key financial concepts like spending wisely, saving for goals, giving thoughtfully, earning income, growing money through investing, and borrowing responsibly.

Each session encourages kids to think critically about their choices, set personal goals, and develop healthy money habits that last a lifetime. Whether they’re learning how to budget their allowance, start a small business idea, or understand how banks work, tweens will gain practical skills to make smart financial decisions now and in the future.

Perfect for curious minds ready to take their first steps toward financial independence!  Come ready to ask questions and speak to professionals about leveling up your money management skills!

Session 5: Growing Your Money

What does it mean to make your money grow?  We'll explore simple investing concepts and how saving early can make a big difference later on.  Participants will be able to understand the concept of earning interest and compound growth, learn basic investing terms and ideas in age-appropriate ways, compare the benefits of saving versus investing, and recognize that patience and consistency help money grow over time.

Presented by Desert Financial Credit Union.

Free & open to the public. Registration is required. Space is limited. All supplies will be provided.
