March STEAM Lab: Leaf Power! Photosynthesis in Action
Step into the role of young botanists this March and uncover the amazing science behind how plants make oxygen! In this hands-on lab, participants will create leaf discs and watch them float as oxygen bubbles form during photosynthesis. Kids will experiment with light, water, and CO₂ levels, make predictions, and observe science in action right before their eyes.
Along the way, we’ll explore how chlorophyll captures sunlight, why plants store energy, and how oxygen is produced. It’s an exciting blend of biology and experimentation that helps young learners understand the science of plants in a whole new way!
This STEAM Lab at the Prescott Valley Public Library, in partnership with Yavapai Exploration and Science, is designed for youth ages 5–12 and encourages curiosity, observation, and critical thinking—perfect for young scientists who love to experiment and explore.
