May STEAM Lab: Zoom! Build Your Rubber Band Car
Step into the role of engineers this November and discover the science of motion! In this hands-on lab, participants will build their own rubber band–powered cars using simple materials like cardboard, skewers, and bottle caps. Kids will test their cars on flat surfaces and ramps, make predictions, and experiment with different designs to see whose car goes the farthest and fastest.
Along the way, we’ll explore concepts like potential and kinetic energy, forces, motion, and how small design changes can make a big difference. It’s a fast-paced, hands-on way to learn about physics that’s equal parts fun and fascinating!
This STEAM Lab at the Prescott Valley Public Library, in partnership with Yavapai Exploration and Science, is designed for youth ages 5–12 and encourages curiosity, observation, and critical thinking—perfect for young scientists who love to experiment and explore.
