April STEAM Lab: Spin Into Weather!

Step into the role of meteorologists this April and discover the science behind wind and tornadoes! In this hands-on lab, participants will build their own anemometers to measure wind speed and create mini tornadoes in jars to explore spinning vortexes. Kids will make predictions, take measurements, and watch air and water in action as science reveals the invisible forces shaping our weather.

Along the way, we’ll explore wind, air movement, and tornado formation. It’s a whirlwind of science that’s equal parts fun and fascinating!

This STEAM Lab at the Prescott Valley Public Library, in partnership with Yavapai Exploration and Science, is designed for youth ages 5-12 and encourages curiosity, observation, and critical thinking—perfect for young scientists who love to experiment and explore.
