Prescott Valley Public Library will be hosting writer in residence, Laraine Herring. Join us for special Writer in Residence writing workshops from June through July. Drawing on tools from the presenter’s book, On Being Stuck: Tapping into the Creative Power of Writer’s Block, we will talk about what writer’s block is and isn’t, share strategies, and learn some foundational compassionate questions to ask yourself when you’re feeling frustrated.

Transforming Writer’s Block is the fifth in a series of Writer in Residence Workshops. This class is open to teens/adults.

Summer 2024 Writer in Residence – Laraine Herring

Laraine Herring, Prescott Valley’s Writer-in-Residence, has an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in Counseling Psychology. She is a tenured professor of psychology and creative writing at Yavapai College and has been teaching since 1993. She has conducted webinars for Corporeal Writing, Creative Nonfiction Magazine, Phoenix Author’s Group and more, and has earned grants through the Arizona Artists Roster. Her work has won the Barbara Deming Award for Women in Fiction and her memoir, A Constellation of Ghosts made a number of top ten lists in 2021.
